A Mission Church of The Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast.

The Mission of Saint Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church is to be a beacon

of God's light and love for all people. We seek to grow in the knowledge and

love of God and to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ through worship,

prayer, study, fellowship, and ministry.

St. Mary's Angels©

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust.

Psalm 91: 4

As God's messengers, angels communicate between heaven and earth. They serve God and are associated with key events in the lives of God’s people and particularly in the life of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Having an angel in your home is a symbol and reminder of God’s presence in your life. It is for this reason the ECW of St. Mary's By-The-Sea selected Guardian Angels, symbol of God's light and love for all people, as their fundraising project for our children and youth ministries.

St. Mary's Angels© are designed by Becky Buerger Moore of Reflections of Mobile Bay, named for her primary source of inspiration.  While walking along the western shore to gather ideas and items for future artistic creations, Becky began to notice the variety of oyster shells along the waters' edge. It was then she visualized the embodiment of a simple but beautiful angel in the shape of the natural shell, thus, the origin of St. Mary's Angels©.

In brief, you should know the following about us: Our church was established in 1965 in its present location and had been responsible for providing great spiritual worship to the Lord as well as fellowship in the community ever since. Sadly our original church from 1965 was lost in Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Construction of the new church pictured above began in 2008 and was completed in 2009 just in time for Easter Sunday Service.

Our mission is to welcome everyone to our Sunday Church Services and adult & children's Sunday School. Our congregation members particularly value our friendly and family atmosphere to all.

The remains of the original church of 1965 after flood damage from Hurricane Katrina.

The beautiful stained glass windows were removed and stored for future use.

The windows were memorials and are now displayed in the new Parish Hall interior.

Sadly, the building was condemned and leveled in 2008 with new building construction.

Here is John Stringer's Website below with photos of the Damage and Salvage.

You can read an article about the damage and rebuilding by clicking the Link below:
